Career Development Events and Leadership Development Events are a great way to get experience outside of the classroom. CDEs/ LDE's help members practice teambuilding, problem-solving skills, and prepare them for future careers. These competitions give them the hands-on experience and opportunities that help them
Committees are another wonderful way to get more involved in Green Level FFA as well as develop leadership and teamwork skills. GLFFA currently offers 2 committees, the Plant Sale Committee and the Outreach Committee.
The Plant Sale Committee works together throughout the year to cultivate the Fall Mum Sale and the Spring Plant Sale. They work hard on growing plants, creating social media posts, and marketing the Plant Sales.
The Outreach Committee is a newer committee, in which students get to create and teach presentations about FFA and agriculture to elementary school students. They also assist in recruiting incoming Freshmen at events such as Open House and Orientation.
Note: There is no FFA Week Committee this year, but that is all the more reason to join one or both of the above!
Garden Cleanups
Garden cleanups are a great way to help out the chapter during the summer. During our garden cleanups, members get to work together to help prepare the garden beds for the upcoming school year. Tasks may vary from pulling weeds to laying mulch in the beds. Overall, it is a great experience to see fellow members during the summer and get hands on experience!
State Fair
Every year, our chapter has a tradition of volunteering at the State Fair! In this opportunity, we get to help out in the Children’s Barnyard, taking care of the animals, directing and helping guests, and overall keeping the barn welcoming for attendees.
It’s a fun event where you will be able to bond with fellow chapter members and enjoy training care of animals!
SAE stands for Supervised Agricultural Experience. They are student-led, instructor-supervised, work-based learning projects where students learn a variety of things about leadership, agriculture, and the FFA.
SAEs or supervised agricultural experiences are ways that FFA members can learn real word employability skills.
There is a variety of types of SAE's including:
Entrepreneurship / Ownership
Placement / Internship
Research & Experimentation
Agricultural Communications / Service Learning
Foundational
If you are thinking about starting a project, there are plenty of resources available to help you brainstorm ideas. Check out the National FFA Organization to find inspiration or ask Ms. Lewis or Mrs. Landa to help you think of an idea.
Wake LEADS is a weekend long leadership event that happens at Camp White Lake! There, participants will get to learn various leadership skills like teamwork, accountability, communication, career building, and more through fun activities. It’s a great opportunity to bond with your chapter, meet new people from other chapters, and have a great weekend!

State Leadership Conference (SLC) is a weeklong sleepaway camp at Camp White Lake! Chapters from across the state attend, and together, we get to participate in a wide variety of workshops led by past and current state officers all about leadership. These workshops can focus on enriching ourselves, being leaders in our schools, in our communities and on state and national levels.
Through small groups, you get to make connections with other chapters, reflect on what you learned, and develop close relationships with your small group leader.
Last summer, the camp highlighted our individual strengths and weaknesses, and how they can be used to complement other qualities within a single person or within a comprehensive team!
