Information literacy is the ability to recognize the need for information and be able to locate, evaluate, and use the information effectively.
In your daily life, this may mean typing "online flower delivery" into Google when your sibling reminds you your mom's birthday is tomorrow or using a site like Snopes or PolitiFact to fact check a social media news item you think sounds questionable.
In school, this means knowing where to look for scholarly sources for your research papers, background information on a topic covered in class you don't understand, and even how to find a book in the library.
