ESL at MES

Welcome!

Welcome to Morrisville Elementary! We are so happy to have you! This website provides information on our ESL program here, as well as, resources to help support and advocate for your English Language Learner (ELL).

ESL Instruction at MES

Morrisville Elementary is a wonderfully diverse community dedicated to promoting student academic growth and achievement. As part of that effort, we offer an ESL program.

ESL Instruction:

  • is a free program for students that have been identified as "English Language Learners" by the Center for International Enrollment (CIE)

  • is held during school hours as either scheduled ESL classes or In-class ESL support

  • supports academic and English language development

  • uses ACCESS scores and assessments to provide each child with the support they need to succeed

ACCESS Testing

All students that are identified as an "English Language Learner" are required by the state to take the ACCESS test every year. This includes all students, even if they are not being served directly by the ESL teacher. Testing usually takes place between January and March. Students are tested in four domains: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Please contact Stephanie Durocher at sdurocher@wcpss.net if you have any questions regarding ACCESS testing.
