The DRMS Library Media Program:

Durant Road Middle School will provide a relevant and engaging education and will graduate students who are collaborative, creative, effective communicators and critical thinkers. The DRMS Library Media program is a vital component in helping to provide a sound education. The vision of the media center aligns with our school's improvement plan.

What is the Wake Forward initiative:

The purpose of Wake Forward is a county initiative that is intended to evaluate each of the eight areas (see illustration on the left) for the DRMS media technology program. After an initial survey at the start of the school year, the MTAC committee determined which connections were strong at DRMS and needed strengthening. From that initial evaluation, we worked to take action to grow and advance our media program accordingly.

Strengths and Ongoing Work

The DRMS library media program is committed to ensuring the curriculum is taught and ensuring information literacy skills are infused within the curriculum.

Additionally the DRMS library media program has always had a strong tradition of providing relevant and engaging professional development for its staff. Work has been done in the past to ensure equity and diversity of resources and relevant use of the space.

Work continues to engage our community and build our budget for resources to improve our collection development.
