The Dance curriculum focuses on four strands of objectives: Dance Movement Skills, Creation and Performance, Responding, and Connecting. These strands will be incorporated throughout the entire semester. Students will be held accountable for memorizing all choreography taught and created during class as well as accurately performing all skills learned. Each class will learn a teacher choreographed dance that will be performed in the Dance Show. Students will create dances within small groups. Students will also learn dance history and have an opportunity to analyze and evaluate dances. Occasionally, we will incorporate Merge Cubes, Breakout EDU, and coding with the Sphero robots into lessons. In Dance, students will grow in their jazz and lyrical/ contemporary technique while having fun in a positive environment.
