Shana Winans began teaching Dance at Davis Drive Middle School in 2007. Mrs. Winans is from Durham, NC. She began dancing at the age of four, and she is trained in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Hip-Hop, Tap, Ballet, African, Musical Theater, and Improvisation. Mrs. Winans was inspired by her high school dance teacher. While in high school Mrs. Winans developed a passion for teaching dance and choreography. By her senior year in high school, Mrs. Winans was teaching in a studio, and she was the assistant choreographer for a local musical. Mrs. Winans attended Meredith College were she majored in Dance. Mrs. Winans graduated in December 2006 with her degree in Dance and a K-12 license in Dance Education. In college, Mrs. Winans was named the Dance Association of North Carolina Educator's, a division of NCAAHPERD, Student of the Year. Aside from teaching Dance at DDMS, Mrs. Winans has also taught recreational and competitive dance classes and has been a guest choreographer for several local studios. Mrs. Winans is also the head coach of the Green Hope High School Dance Team.
