It's Tournament Time!

Critical Deadlines

Field trip forms will be available for pickup from the head coach after school on the Monday two weeks before a tournament takes place.  Forms are due back no later than the Monday of the week of the tournament by 3:30 p.m.  Anyone who does not turn in the permission form and payment by the deadline will not be able to compete in the tournament.  If you are in a partner event, make sure you and your partner turn in forms and payment by the deadline, as delinquency from one person will result in both people being dropped from the event.

Team members are encouraged to turn in their field trip forms and payment no later than Friday by 3:30 p.m. the week before each tournament in order to not miss the Monday deadline.   Meeting these crucial deadlines helps our registration process stay efficient and clear.

Required Practice

When you turn in your field trip form and payment, you will also sign up for a practice time in the days leading up to a tournament.  Everyone who is attending the tournament is required to practice at school ahead of time.

Contract for the Current Season

Students attending their first tournament must also sign and have their parents sign a contract for behavioral expectations.  Please click the link below to see a copy of the contract.

Typical Costs

Most one-day tournaments cost $15 to attend ($30 for double-entry in speech/interpretation events).  Two-day tournaments typically cost between $50 to $150, depending on the price of the hotel, the number of people per room, etc. (student fees also cover adult rooms on these trips).  Students who qualify for national tournaments will have much, if not all, of their costs covered by the Booster Club.

Late Drops

Sometimes team members have to change their plans, even after they register, due to unforeseen circumstances.  If your plans change, make sure you talk to Mr. Jessee or email him by 5:00 p.m. on the Monday before a tournament you need to drop, so that your money can be refunded.  Any drops made after this deadline cannot be refunded, as the school will still be charged your entry fees regardless of your absence.

Financial Assistance

We never want to exclude anyone from competing for financial reasons.  Several prominent team members in the past have needed assistance from time to time, and it has always been granted.  If you need financial assistance, please talk to the head coach.  Your request will be kept in the strictest confidence.

Stay Informed!

Some tournaments operate by different deadlines and rules than the norm described above.  Make sure you check the announcements tab and/or read your Reminds so you don't miss the opportunity to compete if/when expectations change.
