CDM at LRMS 2025-2026
Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) is an opportunity for students to earn course credit without enrolling in the course, by demonstrating deep understanding of course content and skills through a rigorous, district-designed assessment process. CDM is intended for students who already show mastery of course standards and are ready for advanced or accelerated learning experiences.
The CDM process includes two assessment phases. Phase I consists of a standardized assessment that measures content knowledge. Students who meet the required benchmark may advance to Phase II, which includes a performance-based assessment scored by district teams. Students who successfully complete both phases earn course credit, which is added to their academic transcript; however, no numerical grade is issued.
Participation in CDM is optional and requires careful consideration. Families are encouraged to work closely with school staff to determine whether CDM is an appropriate pathway for their child. Factors such as academic readiness, social-emotional development, long-term academic goals, and scheduling implications should all be considered before submitting a request.
Each school year, families may attend informational meetings and submit CDM requests during the district application window in the early fall. The assessment process occurs throughout the school year, with final results and any appeals completed in the spring. Specific dates and deadlines vary by school calendar and are communicated through the school CDM Coordinator
