🐸Fast Facts About the AIG Identification Process for 3rd Grade Students 🐸

🐸All 3rd grade students are initially screened for AIG identification.

🐸All 3rd grade students take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) during the fall. The testing window is set by the testing office and the testing coordinator sets all testing schedules.

🐸3rd grade students who earn an 85% or higher somewhere on the CogAT and/or are showing high capabilities in their classroom are eligible for the Iowa Assessments. Students must be referred for the Iowa Assessments and parents/guardians must give permission to test.

🐸Testing is only the first part of the AIG identification process.

🐸 The AIG identification process for 3rd graders typically last from September - February.

🐸Testing does not guarantee AIG identification. The AIG teacher and classroom teacher will meet to analyze all available data for each student that is nominated. If the data supports the need for testing the student will be referred for the AIG identification process. If the data does not support the need for testing the student will not be referred.
