Our iPads help us to encourage students to collaborate, communicate, think critically, and create. Please refer to these policies to help us do this efficiently and safely.
Individual iPads for staff are checked out from Destiny Resource System in the Library, Elective classes have 10 in carts, and our 2 classroom carts are checked out through your Librarians.
We have two classroom loaner carts that have 17 iPads.
Volunteers will deliver them to your room.

New apps should only be installed on iPads for student use after thorough review and can be searched in DRPL. Email Mrs. Thrash and it will be added from WCPSS iOS's Jamf system, usually within 24 hours.
Our iPads are managed by Tech Services at Wake County's Central Office through a program called Jamf. When we request an app, it will show up in the Self Service App. Look for this icon on your screen.

Sometimes an app is misbehaving because it needs an update. We don't give students access to the App Store so you'll need to go to the Self Service app to reinstall.

Google Docs is an easy way to transfer files to your computer from the iPad but you must be careful to use Safari Browser, be in YOUR account and logout afterwards.
APPS - we have removed all google Apps because they are difficult to ensure a successful logout of the account.
Turn off all accessibility options, it might be difficult to get to, but if you can...

Password is created by student, so it can be disabled if you can figure out who did it. If not... You need to put it in DFU mode and then Restore in iTunes. See below left.
Created for visually impaired who don’t need screen to be on. This mode is hard to detect, but if you click home button and power buttons together, you can see that the screen is working with a box around certain features. And, when you swipe, it will go through the menu.
To end, default is Triple three finger tap. But we’ve also seen Quadruple three finger tap to end. This means three fingers tapping, three or four times.
Library Volunteers:
Unplug cart carefully from the wall and roll it up around the bar tightly.
Unplug each iPad inside from the white cord so students can get them easily.
Make sure all are there and record missing devices from the form on the clipboard.
Lock the iPad cart.
Roll Carefully upstairs.
Give the key to the teacher only.
Teachers:
Have students sign out their device each period and if you have to use the same one twice in a day, wipe it off with ALCOHOL wipes only.
The new cases don’t fit in the old slots, so the morning volunteers took shelves out and they will unplug all iPads before delivery.
The iPads don’t need to charge during the day, so don’t plug them back in until the end of 7th period, unless maybe you do lunch or your planning period.
Make a count to ensure all are there before you or a careful student returns the cart at the end of the day.
LOCK THE CART and take the Key home with you or store it securely OVERNIGHT!
Hold students accountable for any settings changes or damage by signing them out on this form.

To do so, first download iTunes on your WCPSS laptop: https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64
1. Plug the iPad into the wall.
2. Hold down the Power button and the Home button at the same time
3. Keep holding both of these buttons for 10 seconds
4. After 10 seconds pass, release the Power button but continue to hold the Home button for another 3-5 seconds
5. When the device is in DFU mode, you should see the iTunes logo on the ipad
6. Plug the device into your computer.
7. iTunes will notify you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Select Restore.
