(C:) is the hard drive of the specific laptop. (C: Users) will list all that have logged on to your computer and your stuff will save on (C: -> users -> your name).
(H:) is your Home directory, it is the network drive that you CANNOT access off campus and will stay on the network when the laptop is reimaged. (H:) is accessible at your school AND all WCPSS schools if they are 'single domain' schools. If you save a lot of powerpoints or pictures you will run out of space. If you run out of room, use a flash drive or Google Drive.
(S:) is the Shared Directory for our school.
Why put stuff on H or C drives?
When you're downloading from an email, have snipping tool screenshots to edit, or have a .pdf to print, maybe you don't want the file in the cloud because you might trash that version soon anyway. These are good reasons to save to the laptop and not the cloud.
Transfer Files within the School Server on the Network (video) - To fully move all items from the Yoga X1 laptop to the new X1 Generation 8, including Desktop and My Documents, you'll open the folder for H that is titled with your WakeID on the old laptop.
Move items found in the C drive to the H drive. Immediately, you'll see them in the H drive of the new X1 Generation 8 device.
Transfer Files to Cloud Storage - Google Docs in WCPSS gives you a huge amount of space and will stay with you forever. You CAN save pictures there, upload images like you upload .docs, .pdf, and .xls files!
You may download one program at a time, like SMART, VLC, and Letterland. From the search bar in the bottom left of Windows, type in "Software Center "and it will give you all options.
Very IMPORTANT: One program at a time, and let it finish loading before you leave campus. OR, leave it loading on campus, with the laptop open and on.
If you close it while a program is loading, it might corrupt the file, so take your time and load the app fully before leaving campus or shutting the laptop.
Download "Vantage" from this area if it is listed. It provides necessary updates.

Secondly, you can either use an existing school/grade/department Shared Drive or also create a Shared Drive, invite the other teachers and move any files into it. THIS IS NOT A SHARED FOLDER IN YOUR DRIVE, which will NOT transfer after your account is disabled, so please see the link below if you are not certain the difference.
A shared drive will be quicker then trying to share permissions to all the files. Plus, if you do not change ownership, they will lose access once your account is disabled. You definitely need to make at least one of the remaining staff members a Manager on the shared drive or they will not be able to add/remove users later. Please follow the naming convention below for the new Shared Drive:
School initials-teacherusername
Example for Joan Allen at Brier Creek ES: bces-jallen
That will ensure Tech Services can help assist and find it should support be needed after you leave.
