Recently, the NC Department of Health and Human Services removed the State requirement for Health Screenings for all students and staff.
In keeping with that guidance, we want you to be aware WCPSS will eliminate on-site health screenings for students beginning the week of April 5th.
Please remember that even though Health Screenings will be discontinued, staff and students are reminded that they need to stay home if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Arrival Procedures
Students should arrive ONLY through designated entrances (see below).
Prior to entering the building, students must ensure they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19, have not been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, and is not running a fever of 100.4 degrees or above.
Students may enter the building and proceed to the Cafeteria to eat their breakfast, proceed to the front of the Library to sign out a laptop (if needed), or proceed directly to their First Period class.
Students should not stop to talk, socialize, gather in groups, or walk around the school. Students should walk with a purpose directly to their assigned location.
Expectations
Staff and students must wear masks at all times and maintain social distancing.
Students may not loiter in any areas of the building and should report immediately to the Cafeteria for breakfast, the front entrance of the Library to sign out a laptop, or their First Period class.
Students MUST enter the building through one of the following entrances:
WCPSS Bus Transportation--Stairwell B Entrance
All students who ride a yellow WCPSS School Bus to school will exit the Bus and enter the school through the Stairwell B Entrance.

Carpool Transportation--Library Entrance
All students who arrive on campus by carpool must enter the campus using our “Junior Parking Lot” in the front of school. This is the entrance off of Avent Ferry Road, the first entrance to campus on the right if coming from Athens Drive.
Families will pull their car to the turn-around loop to drop off their students.
Parents can begin letting students out of their car beginning at 6:50 a.m.
Carpool students will enter the school through the Library Entrance
Do not drop students off anywhere else on or near campus if you are carpooling. Please adhere to our arrival procedures for the safe, orderly operation of our school. Thank you for only utilizing the Junior Lot Entrance off of Avent Ferry Road for carpool drop-off and pick-up.
Special Education Transportation--Front Entrance
All students who ride Special Transportation to school will enter campus using the Athens Drive entrance
Students who arrive to school using Special Transportation will enter the school through the Front, Main School Entrance
Student Drivers and Walkers--Gym/Auditorium Entrance
All students who drive themselves to school, are driven to school by another student, or who walk to school must enter the school through the Gym/Auditorium Lobby Entrance
All student drivers will park their vehicles in the back Senior Parking Lot, regardless of grade
There will be no parking for students in the front Junior Parking Lot
Students can begin entering the building from the Senior Parking Lot at 6:50 a.m.
Students should maintain social distancing standards as they park their vehicles and wear masks at all times during their arrival on campus.
Loitering anywhere in the parking lots on campus is not permitted.
Students may not be in another student’s car at any time unless they are driving to or from school with that student.

If a student arrives after 7:25 a.m., the student should report to the Front, Main Entrance of the school.
Students will be allowed to enter the building through the Front, Main Entrance of the school when they arrive late to school. Students will then proceed to the Attendance Office to check in and receive a pass to class.
The school day ends at 2:18 p.m. and all students will be dismissed at that time to move directly to the location of their transportation home or to be under the direct supervision of a teacher/coach/advisor.
Students should immediately report to their mode of transportation home area and immediately leave campus. Students are not permitted to loiter on campus. Extra-curricular participants (e.g., student athletes, students participating in arts, clubs, etc.) should immediately report to their teacher/coach/advisor upon dismissal.
Students should maintain social distancing standards and wear masks at all times during dismissal. Loitering anywhere in school or on campus is not permitted.
Exterior doors will remain locked. If a student exits the building they will not be allowed to re-enter.
Students who ride WCPSS Yellow Bus transportation home should report immediately to their bus and not loiter in the school or Bus Lot.
Students who carpool home should report to the “Junior Lot” and report immediately to their car to leave campus. Students who are waiting for their ride should be sure they are maintaining social distance with other students in front of the Library and in the Junior Lot.
Students who are driving in a personal car must immediately report to their car and leave campus. Students must not loiter in the Senior Parking Lot or sit with other students in a car.
Students who walk home must immediately walk off campus to go home.
The Public Library will not be open or available to students after school.
To receive WCPSS Bus Transportation services, Bus Riders who are currently assigned to our Virtual Academy but are wishing to return to In-Person learning, must apply for Bus Transportation service. Please follow the link provided to apply for WCPSS Transportation Services Apply for Transportation Services Link. Please know that students must meet all Bus Transportation eligibility requirements and reside within our school base zone. Parents/Guardians are also required to submit a Bus Health Attestation Form for their student prior to their student being assigned a bus route. Please understand that requests made for Bus Transportation will be closed after three days if the Bus Health Attestation form is not received. Students will be assigned to a Bus Route as quickly as possible after the Bus Health Attestation form is received. Typically, Bus Riders are assigned within a few days after WCPSS Transportation Department receives all required information. If you have any specific questions regarding Bus Transportation, please contact Mr. Coats (dcoats@wcpss.net), our Assistant Principal who leads Bus Transportation.
There is NO cost for a 2020 -2021 Parking Pass.
Students need to complete the Online Parking Application.
Students must complete the Online Parking Form.
Students must make a clear photocopy of their valid NC Driver’s License (permanent photo - not a permit--a temporary license will not be accepted.) and Vehicle Registration(s).
Students must verify cleared fees or fines (office staff will verify). A Parking Pass will not be issued if you have outstanding fees or fines.
Students should make sure that they have read the Application carefully and include all information requested on the application.
If a student needs to be picked up early from school, they must be checked out by a parent or guardian.
Parents/guardians will not be allowed into the building, they should report to the Front Entrance of the school where they will be given assistance.
If a student leaves school, and then returns, they will be screened again upon their arrival to school.
Students may not be checked-out after 1:45 p.m. to ensure we clear the halls for a safe dismissal. There are no exceptions to this process.
