I am so excited about the 2017-2018 school year and I hope you are too. This year we will be exploring the exciting and dynamic world of physics, weather, cells, and the human body. The main goal of this course is to develop an understanding of modern science and technology through challenge and inquiry. Students will participate in labs and projects that will develop skills in writing, math, inquiry, time management, cooperation, and presentation skills. In addition, my hopes are that this course will strengthen students’ organization skills, their growth mindsets, and their senses of accountability in the classroom and in the world.
This site will be updated throughout the school year to reflect what we'll be learning and working on at the time. Follow along as we embark on an adventure of critical thinking and discovery!

I was born and raised in Laurinburg, North Carolina, a small town about two hours south of Raleigh. This is my first year teaching at Carroll Magnet Middle and I am so honored to be here. I am a proud graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill where I received my B.A. in Middle Grades Math and Science Education, Biology. My interests include: animals, travel, hiking, Netflix, coffee, ice cream, Carolina basketball and of course, all things science. I am particularly fascinated by the life sciences, genetics, sustainability and the solar system. The pictures below were taken while hiking around a glacial tongue in Iceland (left) and at a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa (right) where I spent time working in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
