This is my first year at Carroll Middle and I am beyond excited! I am originally from NE Ohio, but spent the majority of my childhood in North Carolina. I am a proud graduate of Appalachian State, where I received a B.S. in Sustainable Development, and UNC Charlotte, where I received a Graduate Certificate in Middle Grades and Secondary Science Education.
During my undergrad, I had multiple jobs working with children of all ages teaching outdoor and environmental education. It was during this time that I recognized my passion for teaching and working with youth, and decided to pursue education through graduate school.
During my free time, some of my interests include exploring outside, playing soccer, playing guitar, woodworking, throwing pottery, and traveling! I have been to 42 states in the US, and 7 different countries, with hopes of adding to both of those numbers in the upcoming year. I am a big Cleveland sports fan, and an even bigger Chelsea FC fan (see picture below). The other two pictures are some of my friends and me at Glacier National Park in Montana, and my 1 year old nephew Fischer!
This year we will be we will exploring the exciting and dynamic world of physics, weather, cells, and the human body. The main goal of this course is to develop an understanding of modern science and technology through challenge and inquiry. Students will participate in labs and projects that will develop skills in writing, math, inquiry, time management, cooperation, and presentation skills.
