AIG
3rd Graders in Wake County are all screened for the AIG program (Academically and Intellectually Gifted). This process takes place throughout the 3rd grade school year to identify students who qualify based on test scores, teacher and parent observation, and work samples. The purpose of the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program is to provide an appropriately challenging educational program for students who perform, or show potential for performing, at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment.

3rd Grade cogAT testing:
This test tells us how each student thinks in different ways--with words, with numbers, and with pictures. It doesn't impact grades on report cards. It is the first step in the process to identify students for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted program.
We will test for less than an hour on 3 different days
Each day focuses on a different section that contains 3 tests.
Each test is only 10 minutes long.
Our AIG teacher will work with our classes to help prepare for the types of questions they will find.
