More about BOG Here:
All South Lakes 3rd graders will take the Beginning of Grade Reading Test (BOG) on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022
The test will be administered online using students' school devices.
This test serves as a baseline score for how each 3rd grader is comprehending what they read at the beginning of 3rd grade. We encourage students to do their best; however, the score does NOT impact classroom grades.
More information about the test will be shared as we approach the week of testing in September.
3rd Grade cogAT testing:
This test tells us how each student thinks in different ways--with words, with numbers, and with pictures. It doesn't impact grades on report cards. It is the first step in the process to identify students for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted program AIG.
The test is given usually sometime before winter break, more information will come.
We will test for less than an hour on 3 different days
Each day focuses on a different section that contains 3 tests.
Each test is only 10 minutes long.
Our AIG teacher will work with our classes to help prepare for the types of questions they will find.

NC Check-Ins 2.0 are quarterly assessments that are aligned to the NC grade-level math and reading standards. These are developed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). The purpose of NC Check-Ins is to provide students, teachers, and parents with data on students’ current performance on the sub-set content standards, which they have been practicing each quarter. (grades 3-8)
All South Lakes 3rd graders will take the End of Grade Reading AND Math tests (EOG) at the end of 3rd grade.
Dates will be given towards the end of the year.
The tests will be administered online using students' school devices on separate days
It will take each student about 2 hours (120 minutes) for most students to complete the EOG Reading Tests. The NCDPI requires all students to be allowed ample opportunity to complete the test. The maximum amount of time allowed for regular administration is 3 hours (180 minutes). For math there are around 40 questions, and for reading around 48 questions.
More information about the test will be shared as we approach the end of the year.
