DO THE 2-STEP!

What is 2-step verification and why should you bother turning it on?

2️⃣step verification adds an extra layer of security to your account in case your password is stolen.

👣If your password is stolen, you will get a notification when someone is trying to log into your account.

What are the 2 steps?

1️⃣ Signing in with your password, followed by

2️⃣ a Google prompt, an SMS code (or voice message), a code via the Authenticator App, backup codes, or a security key  (see video for how to set up any of them, as well as the recommended methods)

2-Step Verification is triggered when you log into a new device, so you won't have to enter the code every time you log in!

🎣Remember that email you received last month about your Disney subscription being suspended? It was a simulated phishing test! The purpose of this test was to determine how our organization would react if a real phishing attack were to occur. The percentage of users who clicked the link in this simulated attack was only 3.09% - great work everyone! In a more recent test that was sent to a small group, 38.46% clicked the link! Remember, it only takes ONE person to click on the link to have a negative impact on the entire district.

🪝Reminder: Through KnowBe4, we have the Phish Alert Button. This makes reporting suspicious emails easy. Here's some information about where you'll find the Phish Alert Button (PAB). If an email feels even the slightest bit fishy, be sure to use it. Doing so will help our organization stay safe!

🆕You will soon receive an email inviting you to take KnowBe4’s security awareness training which will take 10-15 minutes (below is a screenshot of what the email looks like.) We will also continue to send out simulated phishing tests so you can practice the skills that you will learn during your training. Be on the lookout for these emails in your inbox.

Thank you for all you are doing to keep our district cyber-safe!
