4. H2R Presentation: Quest, Bible and Myth. (Sample by Ms. Finn, all other students will be presenting each Monday)

5. List of chapters for presentations and dates

Homework:

  1. Finish college essay/make edits if needed
  2. Bring ID card tomorrow to get copies of Fences


Wednesday, September 5:

1. Read and Watch Act 1, Scene 1 up to page 13

2. Begin note taking (Worksheet found here, can be written on binder paper if needed)

Homework:

  1. Finish notes up to page 13 (where we stopped in class)


Thursday, September 6:

  1. Review Scene 1 - Finish watching and discussing with notes
  2. Read Act 1, Scene 2 together as a class with notes


Homework:

1. Read Act 1, Scene 3 with notes for homework


Friday, September 7:

1. Small group discussion: Do you think Troy is a 'good' father? Why or why not?

2. Directorial Choice: Watch two version of Act 1, Scene 3 with discussion

Week Four

Monday, September 9:

  2. How to Read Presentation: Flight and Symbol
  3. Reading Quiz on Act 1
  4. In class: Act 2, Scene 1: How has the setting, characters or situations developed? Stayed the same? How does it affect our overall reading?

Homework:

1. Read Act 2, Scene 2 and 3 with notes


Tuesday, September 10:

1. Review 2.2-3

2. Motif tracking - how have things developed?

3. Watch Act 2 (Up to the final scene)

Homework:

  1. Finish the play (Act 2 Scene 5) with notes


Wednesday, September 5:

  1. Small Group Discussions:
  • Discuss how the characters react to Troy's death: is he redeemed in the end? Or not?
  • How does the setting affect the story and Troy's redemption?
  • How would you stage the last moments of the play? What importance do they hold?

2. Watch the end of the movie version
