In term 1 we explore the growth and survival of living things and how their adaptations over time suit their environment.
In Term 2 students investigate how and why food and fibre are produced in sustainable, managed environments that enable people to grow and be healthy.
We've been learning about the three types of adaptations. It is really interesting! Children worked with others to look at these 10 adaptations and classify which type they were. Can you work them out?
Structural adaptations: physical features body process that helps an organism to survive/reproduce e.g. wings, webbed feet, camouflage
Physiological adaptations: the way the organism’s body works to help it survive/reproduce e.g. producing venom/poison, fat/energy storage (like a camel’s humps)
Behaviour: responses made by an organism that help it to survive/reproduce. Can be instinctive e.g. dog drooling when exposed to food, or learned behaviours e.g. use of tools, language or hunting skills
