This associate degree program prepares students to transfer into an early childhood education program at a 4-year college or university. It covers the first 2 years of instruction in a bachelor's degree program with an early childhood education major. Students can earn either Birth-Kindergarten Certification or a Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Studies.
The Early Childhood Education Associate Degree is perfect for students who know they want to earn a bachelor's degree, for graduating high school students, and for students who have earned college credits in general education or are transferring to WCC from other colleges.
The Child Development Associate Degree program is perfect for students who are currently working in the field. This pathway allows students to earn a national CDA Credential while they work towards their Associate Degree.
The program satisfies Michigan state requirements for licensing as directors of child care centers, lead teachers in child care centers, home-based center providers, and support staff in public school early childhood programs, GSRP classrooms, and Head Start agencies.
Students can elect to transfer to a bachelor's degree program in Child and Family Studies.
