Have you taken the time to seriously consider what career you would like to pursue after high school? As counselors, we are shocked at the percentage of students who, as a senior, tell us they have no idea what they want to do after high school. Naviance has plenty of resources to help you make informed decisions. You can take an assessment that will help determine your interests based on your personality traits, and suggest job clusters and careers that you might enjoy. You can research careers to find out more information about the type of education and experience needed, as well as the average salary and earnings. Make sure to reach out to your counselor if you have any questions. We are here to guide you through each step of this process
From the Naviance home page click on the "Careers" link in the upper right corner, then "Explore Careers, Clusters and Pathways."
From this screen you can take the "Career Interest Profiler" to discover more about your interests. The Career Interest Profiler is an online assessment that uses the Holland Interest Codes to find careers that align with your interests. After completing the assessment, click on "Career of Choice" to display more information about the career. You can even build a list of careers you are interested in by clicking "Add to My List."
You can also use the Career Lookup tools to explore careers by keyword, category, or career name.
Make sure to visit "Road Trip Nation Interview Archive." This program started when a group of friends set off across the country to figure out what they wanted to do with their lives. They interviewed a lot of people along their journey to try to figure out the secret of success, how to overcome challenges and face adversity, and gained exposure to careers they might never have known existed. These videos may just help you figure our your own road in life.
