Hello! My name is Alex Gibboney, and I am the band director for Penn Wood and Westtown-Thornbury Elementary Schools. Before coming to the West Chester Area School District, I worked for the Reading School District as their 5th through 8th grade band director. 

I studied music education at Elizabethtown College, where their motto of "educate to serve" became a core part of my teaching philosophy. During college, I developed my tireless work ethic through rigorous practice and schoolwork. As a band director in the Reading School District, I honed my ability to create educational contingencies and differentiated instruction through teaching band lessons on every instrument. I have also assisted in training and organizing the implementation of Restorative Practices, a method I use throughout my teaching. I have always been the kind of person to simply do what needs to be done, and tirelessly improve myself and others.
