Lessons and Practice
Practice
When you sign up to play an instrument, you are making a promise to practice at home. Practicing what you learned in your lesson is the only sure-fire way to get better at your instrument
Students are expected to practice at least 15 minutes a day working on their assigned lesson book examples.
Success comes from hard work and consistency. Learning an instrument is a skill that requires practice, patience, and dedication
Lessons
Students will recieve weekly band lessons in small groups with classmates who play the same instrument.
Lessons will be a half hour class during the school day. The lesson day will remain the same each week, but the lesson times will rotate.
Focus of lessons is skill development, technique, and music literacy
Ensemble
Starting in March, with the permission of Mr Gibboney, students may participate in full band rehearsals before school in addition to our regular lessons.
This weekly morning rehearsal is a time to work on playing as an ensemble and perfect the concepts we have learned, while using fun music and activities to prepare for a concert performance.
The winter concert (5th grade only) will be in December, and the Spring concert (4th and 5th grade) will be in May.
