About Me:
In the sixth grade, I started running CYO Cross Country as a way to stay in shape for basketball. Initially, I hated running (especially because the meets were at Belmont Plateau, a hilly venue), but once I started to experience some success in the sport, I slowly put the basketball away and laced up my running shoes. I was very lucky to have amazing middle school coaches and teammates, and I was able to run 2:12 for 800m and 5:00 for 1600m by 8th grade. Some of my best friends to this day are folks I've run with since I was a youngster.
I ran four years of cross country at Cardinal O'Hara High School, where we were Delco and Philadelphia Catholic League XC Champions along with being a top-three program in Pennsylvania. On the track, I was part of a state-championship-winning distance medley relay team at the PA Indoor State Meet and was a sub-two-minute 800-meter runner.
I ran in college at West Chester University. After many injuries, I took a break from running and started working at Chester County Running Store (now Bryn Mawr Running Company - West Chester) while finishing my teaching degree.
Today, I can now say (in many ways) that I'm running better than ever and enjoying the sport through a new lens. I work out on Tuesday and Friday mornings before school with the local running community, and I train for a variety of races, from the West Chester Mile up to the NYC Marathon.
I love being a teacher, but I also love the connections I have with student-athletes on the course and track. I'm hoping to not only develop young talent but also to help novice runners maintain a healthy relationship with running.
