3rd-5th grade students have the opportunity to learn one of the following instruments. To help pick an instrument, please watch the videos below.
Violin - Viola - Cello - String Bass
Some buses do not allow students to bring the cello so you may be required to find alternative transportation. We have a few cellos to use for in-school lessons but a cello is still required for home practice and concerts.
The bass cannot be transported on the school bus, but we do have a bass for your child to use for in-school lessons. A bass is still required for home practice and concerts.

Students receive a 30 minute pull-out lesson once a week in small groups during the school day. Times are rotated every week so students do not get pulled from the same time.
Students are expected to practice at least 15 minutes daily on their assigned music.
Students are expected to participate in evening concerts and 8 weekly morning rehearsals leading up to the concert (three for 3rd grade). These rehearsals typically start at 7:45am. Any beginner will be invited to join the morning rehearsals for the Spring Concert only, not the Winter Concert.
SIGN UP by September 26th and please have the instrument and book for the first lesson on the week of September 29th.
The violin is the smallest and highest sounding instrument in the orchestra.
The viola is the second smallest instrument in the orchestra. It has one lower string than the violin, making it overall have a deeper tone.
The cello is the second largest instrument in the orchestra. You have to sit to play the cello because of its size. Keep in mind that some buses do not allow students to bring the cello. We have a few cellos to use for in-school lessons but a cello is still required for home practice and concerts.
The string bass is the largest and lowest sounding instrument in the orchestra. This instrument cannot be transported on the school bus, but we do have a bass for your child to use for in-school lessons. A bass is still required for home practice and concerts.
