Frau Muhl graduated from UW Madison with a degree in World Language Education and German. She has been teaching for 2 years; her first year was at Dodgeland High School in Juneau, WI and her second year was with the West Bend School district. She currently teaches German at Silverbrook, Badger, and West and East High School.
Whether you choose German for the interesting culture, the connection to your family heritage, or the importance of global communication, getting your early start at Silverbrook is a smart choice!
Silverbrook German class:
We participate, practice, and perform in German Class!
Students work on all four language skills: reading, listening, speaking, writing. Through songs, stories, and videos, and a variety of activities we make amazing progress in our language skills.
We meet every other day at Silverbrook,
Students are exposed to many different activities and cultural themes throughout the course of their German learning.
If you continue studying German through high school, you can travel there with other students and your German teacher. Students receive a partner and live with their family while they visit our partner school, the Starkenburg Gymnasium. We also take trips throughout Germany. We have been doing this exchange with Heppenheim for 30 years! Watch the video to see the fun!
5 Important facts about World Languages
In the WBSD
Early Start + Long Sequence = Success
World Language is availavle to Silverbrook students. An early start in any world language is extremely benficial and unique to the WBSD. For best success, students are encouraged to maintain an uninterrupted language sequence from Silverbrook through high school, so choose wisely!
If your child continues their world language at Badger, they receive a third semester of Level I in 7th grade and then everyday language study in 8th grade which matches the content and expectations of the high school Level II course. As a result students earn a full high school credit in 8th grade! This is not possible in other school districts.
If your child continues World Language study in high school, your child will be able to receive college credit for high school courses, once they enroll in an institution of higher learning. Many state colleges have a World Language graduation requirement that can be met through the completion of high school courses which of course are FREE.
If your child continues World Language study in college, the UW system offers up to 16 retro-active college credits to students who complete at least one semester and receive a B or better in the class. This is separate from and often in addition to AP credit that could be awarded by taking the AP test. This can result in tremendous cost savings. World Language is the only field that offers this advantage to students!
NEW -- Level VI is a new course that will help students prepare for the AP test and other college entrance tests in their target language. It is available to high school seniors who have participated in the WBSD sequence of early start + long sequence.
Please carefully consider the language you would like to learn and direct any further questions to:
