Being in choir is an exhilarating experience. You will learn so many new things from the many great and awesome teachers you will have. You will learn many useful skills and a great knowledge from being in choir. In choir you get to learn all of these new things like voice parts, how to read music better, learn basic piano skills, and a ton of music theory. Choir may seem a little intimidating at first, but the longer you are in choir, the more you will love it. In choir you will learn very special and different skills than you would in band or orchestra. Choir is super fun. The teachers I’ve had have made choir a very unique and fun experience. So I have a very strong suggestion for you to go into choir. I hope you pick choir for the next few years of your life. Choir will be an experience that you won’t forget.

-Mason, a WBHS Sophomore

Within the first week of the school year, the choir room felt like the safest place in the whole school. It's somewhere I can be whoever I want and no one will judge me. You have to work hard just like you would in any other class, and maybe more. I have grown so much as a singer! I hope you have a wonderful experience in choir just like I’m having.

-Amanda, a junior in Vivace!

I love to sing.

When I sing I feel happy.

I want to learn to be the best singer possible!

Meet the WBSD Choir Directors!

Darciann Ketter: Hi! I'm so excited to have you come to Silverbrook next year! I'm Mrs. Ketter, and I've been in the WBSD for 16 years. I've taught music at all levels, and one of my FAVORITES is 5th/6th Choir! We'll explore many different styles of songs while learning how to use our instrument to make it sound and look its best. It will be FUN learning new things as we prepare for our concerts. There will also be other opportunities to explore your musical talents in and out of class during the year. Choir is a TEAM where we all can WIN by working TOGETHER using the world's very first instrument... our VOICE. Come sing with us!

Matthew Gehrman: Hello 4th graders! My name is Mr. Gehrman and this is my second year teaching in the WBSD. I went to UW-Eau Claire for college and found a great home here in the music program here in West Bend Schools. I thoroughly enjoy singing and all forms of making music. In my classroom, I make sure that students are comfortable with their voice and help them to unlock new ideas and skills to further develop their voice. We also do some fun activites and pieces to help us along the way! Hope to see you in choir when you get to Badger!

Tess Breit: Hi, fourth graders! My name is Mrs. Breit, and I have been teaching at WBHS for almost 5 years. A West Bend alumnus, I am very passionate about our choir program. I went to college at UW-Stevens Point and came right back to West Bend! Students would describe me as a fun and energetic teacher with high expectations for each choir. If you stick with choir through high school, you might be able to go on field trips, perform at concerts and other schools, and make life-long friends! We also have a handbell choir, co-curricular choir, and a musical production every year. Hope to see you in choir in a few years! :)
