Examples and Credit Values
below are examples of opportunities and their respective credit values — this is not menat to be an exhaustive list, it is meant to serve as a guide and inspiration for ways that you might choose to engage across the three pillars!
Register or pre-register to vote (1 Credits)
Obtain a passport or any other state or federal license or credential (1 Credit)
Obtain a public library card (1 Credit)
Vote in a town, state, or federal election (2 Credits)
Attend a local school board, town hall, or city council meeting (2 Credits)
Attend a protest, sit-in, march, or demonstration (2 Credits)
Become certified in first aid and/or CPR (2 Credits)
Write a letter or email to an elected official expressing opinion policy issues (3 Credits)
Write and submit an op-ed to a publication (3 Credits)
Deliver verbal or written testimony at a public hearing (3 Credits)
Volunteer for a local, state, or national political campaign (1 Hr of Volunteering = 1 Credit)
Volunteer at polling station on election day (1 Hr of Volunteering = 1 Credit)
Visit a museum, local cultural or historical site, state park, or nature preserve (1 Credit)
Facilitate a Perspective Project event (4 Credits)
Attend a Perspective Project event (2 Credits)
Participate in a Civil Tea (2 Credits)
Attend a Deliberative Democracy or Community Conversation event with the CEP Fellows (2 Credits)
Attend a non-class related talk, lecture, or presentation at Waynflete (2 Credits)
Attend a community event at your local library, community center, etc (2 Credits)
Attend a public talk, lecture, or presentation (2 Credits)
Attend any half-day or full-day conference not at Waynflete (3 Credits for a half day or 6 Credits for a full day)
Participate in the Can We? Project (12 Credits)
Important Note:
Unless noted otherwise below, or by agreement with Mesa and the Fellows, community service credit will be awarded using the following formula
1 Hour of Community Service = 1 Community Service Credit
