“Waynflete's mission is to engage the imagination and intellect of our students, to guide them toward self-governance and self-knowledge, and to encourage their responsible and caring participation in the world.”
- Waynflete Mission Statement
The Upper School Community Engagement Program (CEP) is grounded in Waynflete’s Mission and is designed to encourage our students’ responsible and caring participation in the world and empowers students to become ethical, responsible, and engaged members of their various communities.
Throughout their upper school experiences, students will be provided with guidance, resources, and opportunities to channel their interests and passions into meaningful and productive interactions with the communities in which they exist. Our approach provides a flexible structure that allows for student choice and agency while challenging students to step outside of their comfort zone to help them develop a holistic understanding of what community engagement looks like in practice. Ultimately, it is our greatest hope that Waynflete graduates leave our community with an awareness of the power they have to impact change, an understanding of how to leverage their voice, and sense of responsibility to make the world a better and more just place.
Public Process & Advocacy
Public Process & Advocacy experiences encourage students to participate in the systems that allow our public and private institutions, communities, organizations, and local, state, and federal government to operate.
New Perspectives & Community Exploration
New Perspectives & Community Exploration experiences encourage students to step out of their personal comfort zone in order to try, think about, or consider something new.
Community Service
Community Service experiences encourage students to volunteer their time in the service of others. Community Service hours can be counted when participating in campus based volunteer opportunities, volunteering for local non-profit organizations, or spending time helping neighbors or others in need.
