Some credit values will be predetermined while others will be determined in conversation between you and Mesa. All credits for service based experiences will be calculated using the following formula: 1 CEP Credit for every hour of activity/involvement.
A list of predetermined credit values can be found here: Grade-Level Expectations
There are a range of experiences that will fulfill the requirements for the Community Engagement Program! While we have curated a list of experiences and credit values as examples of how a student might fulfill each requirement, you should be also checking the Community Engagement Schoology page and CEP Instagram for weekly announcements with new opportunities.
If you plan to participate in an experience that is not listed below, that's fantastic! We expect many of you will choose some experiences we haven't listed below and we look forward to hearing why you think these experiences fit the definition of one of the three categories — Public Process & Advocacy, New Perspectives & Community Exploration, and Community Service.
Feel free to check with John or Mesa and to ask about credit values for any experience not listed in these examples. To earn CEP credit, a student must engage in a qualifying CEP experience, record the experience with the CEP form. Students should submit their experiences soon after completion. If you are doing something repeatedly, wait until the end of the experience to record it.
No — students will be not be asked to submit a separate reflection for each experience they participate in this year. Instead, students will be asked to record the details of their experience with the google form set up to record date, type of experience, organization, credit value, etc. over the course of the year.
However, at the end of the year, students will be asked to complete their comprehensive reflection in which they will be asked to reflect on their engagement throughout the year as a whole and how they would like to engage differently in the year ahead.
