Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to 8th Grade Science! I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive school year.

My name is Ms. Chelsea Neal. I went to college at Western Kentucky University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science majoring in Biology and Bio-Physics. Then, I earned my teaching certificate through Indiana Wesleyan University. My hometown is Monticello, but I also lived in Indiana for five years before returning to our beautiful town. This is my 3rd year teaching 8th Grade Science at Wayne County Middle School, and I have also taught 7th and 8th Grade Science and High School Biology in Indiana.

Students will be able to access ALL assignments and announcements on Google Classroom. Only students should join these classrooms. They should join using their school email address. Please check your schedule to see which period you are in Science prior to joining. Here are the class codes for each period:

If there is an issue that I might be unaware of and requires late work submission, please contact me via phone or email to discuss alternate submission arrangements. Otherwise, I expect all work completed by the due date. These due dates will be listed in the student’s Google Classroom and Google Calendar. If a student is in class and does not complete their work, I will not accept it late without an accommodation. 

Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. I hope you will make it a priority this year to sit down with your student to view their assignments and the quality of their work. 

As of now, we plan to continue with the Wayne County Middle School Science Fair as we did last year. Information about the Science Fair & Awards will be given at a later date.
