Set Up Gradebook

CATEGORIES

At the beginning of the year, you will have access to your classes and see the students assigned to each class. The first item you want to take care of is to set up the categories you will use. If you are part of a department you may want to check the categories and weights used by others in your department.

CATEGORIES BY PERCENTAGE

You must have at least one category and the total weights MUST equal 100%. As an example: Daily work - 40%, Class Participation - 10%, Tests and Projects - 50%. This is just and example and not a recommendation. The bottom line is:

• You must have at least one category.
• You can have as many as you like.
• The total percentage in categories must equal 100.
• If you are part of a department, check with your department chair to see if you use standard categories and percentages.
• You may use different categories and percentages in different classes.

CREATING CATEGORIES

To create categories, in gradebook locate the Settings arrow in blue toward the upper left.

• Click the arrow to expand the settings.
• Highlight and choose Categories. This option will allow you to create the categories for your classes.
• if you choose to use the same categories in all your classes, you can use Category Copier to copy them to other classes.
