Welcome 7th Grade Students!

Hello Students! My name is Mrs. Whitney Huffaker and I will be your 7th Grade social studies teacher this year. I graduated right here from Wayne County High School and went on to attend Eastern Kentucky University where I received my Bachelor Degree in Middle Grades Math and Social Studies 5-9.

I am very happy to have you in my class this school year. I have lots of fun and exciting activities planned for you to participate in.

We will begin where you left off in 6th grade and continue to cover ancient world history. I am excited to share with you my knowledge of historical cultures and allow you to explore the ancient world through many different technological platforms. Get ready to dive in to the past and help you to discover where we got the ideas for our present.

1. View all resources provided to you.

2. Complete assignments in a timely manner.

3. Follow directions the first time they are given.

4. Treat each person with respect and dignity.

5. Follow ALL procedures and policies as outlined in the WCMS handbook.

D. Homework:

Students are expected to take equal responsibility for their learning, and along with this, a substantial amount of work and class activity load can be anticipated. All assignments given will be assigned with proper time to be completed.

E. Assessment:

Students will be assessed in various methods. Students will be graded on quizzes, homework, classroom participation, and projects. Student’s grades will be based on percentages as follows:

Class Participation/Homework: 50% Projects/Quizzes/Test: 50%

Grading scale: 90 - 100 A

80 - 89 B

70 - 79 C

60 - 69 D

59 and below F
