Ms. Denise Phipps
Language Arts Teacher
Hi! My name is Denise Phipps and I will be teaching 7th grade Language Arts this year at Wayne County Middle School. I have been teaching for 25 years in grades ranging from 1st to 8th. (Whew! That's a long time!) I am very excited to be teaching Middle School once again and I hope you are excited about this year as well!
A little about my credentials: I graduated from EKU with a Bachelor's degree in Middle School Language Arts/Social Studies. Then I went back to college at the University of Cumberlands and earned my Master's degree in Elementary Education. I absolutely LOVE teaching!
My personal bio: I have 5 children (2 adopted and 3 of my own). My oldest son, Josh, lives in Lexington and has 3 beautiful children (Kaden, Silas, and Kira) who I spoil rotten! My daughter, Brianna, also lives in Lexington and has a little girl (Harper) who is named after me. She is my world! I spoil her rotten too, of course! Two of my teenage boys are going off to college this year. I'm a little sad because I will miss them terribly! Jonathan received a baseball scholarship to Ohio University as a pitcher and Pancho received a baseball scholarship to Midway University. They are both amazingly talented at baseball! I can't wait to go watch them play! Jesse will be the only one left at home. He will be a Junior in High School this year.
My fur babies: I am a gigantic animal lover! I have a dog named Boo who is a Morky Poo. He is so spoiled, it's ridiculous! I swear he thinks he's human! I like to do voice overs for Boo and I have gotten pretty good at relaying what he is thinking ...LOL... I also have a chocolate lab named Teddy. He is new to our family and he is a sweety! He has long legs like a giraffe but he still thinks he is a lap dog. He didn't get the memo about how tall he is! He stands on his hind legs and we dance. Last but not least, I have a gorgeous little kitty named Oliver. He is white and gray and very shy! I rescued him from downtown Somerset and boy did he hit the jackpot! Animals get the royal treatment at my house!
Well, that's enough about me! I can't wait to meet you and hear all about you! We are going to have a fabulous year together! I am extremely excited about this year and I know we are going to grow and learn together and make this the best year yet!
