8th Grade Red Team

Hello! Welcome to 8th grade Language Arts! I'm so excited to be your teacher this year!

My name is Mrs. McKenzie Blevins, and this is my fifth year teaching at Wayne County Middle School! Monticello is my hometown, and I am a graduate of Wayne County High School. I attended Western Kentucky University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in English for Secondary Education. I am currently attending Georgetown College and working on earning a Masters Degree in Literacy and Teacher Leadership.

Class Information:

We will have a new curriculum this year in all language arts classes. It is called Amplify ELA and is the same program you will be using in science class. You'll get more information about this program and how to access it soon. I'm very excited to start using Amplify ELA this year, and I think you'll really enjoy it!

Hello! My name is Juanelle Smith and I am beyond excited and blessed to be working in your Language Arts classes this year. This is my 24th year of teaching in the Wayne County School District and I'm certain that you will be a huge part of making it my best year yet!

A little about me, like you, I attended Wayne County Schools. After graduating high school, I went on to University of the Cumberlands to obtain my Bachelor's in Special Education grades K-12 and Elementary Education grades K-5. Later I obtained a master's degree in Special Education and a Rank 1 Director of Special Education Certification all through the University of the Cumberlands. I am blessed with an amazing husband Scott Smith and a wonderful daughter MaKayla Smith who is also in 8th grade. They are the my greatest treasure that God gave me.

I am looking forward to this school year! This will be an interesting year, but I know we can get through it together. You will primarily see me in and out of your Math and Language Arts classes teaching along side Mrs. Shearer and Mrs. Blevins. I am so excited to get to know each and everyone of you, and I am looking forward to a happy, unique and productive school year. I know together we can make this a great and exciting year!
