The Bluebook app has been installed on students' laptops, and this is how students will access the test on test day. Please double-check your computer to ensure the Bluebook app has been installed before test day.
Before test day, we recommend that you create a CollegeBoard account (if you have not already done so) and access the practice tests in the app so you can familiarize yourself with the new test interface. You will need this CollegeBoard account to access the PSAT/NMSQT on test day.
Access Bluebook™ for the following practice resources:
Test Preview: A short set of untimed questions lets students experience digital testing and try out the tools. They will not receive scores or any feedback on their answers.
Full-Length Practice: These tests are timed like a real test, except students can move forward from one section to the next before time expires. Full-length practice scores will be available in Bluebook on My Practice. A College Board account or Sign-In Ticket login credentials are needed to access Bluebook. They can use either for My Practice too.
Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy will customize practice for students, identifying specific goals and giving them practice questions with full explanations.
Please also see the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide for more information.
Don’t forget to charge your laptop the night before! We cannot guarantee that we will have enough chargers to accommodate everyone. A fully charged laptop battery should get you through the test (if you have extra time, you will be allowed to recharge if necessary).
You will need to bring an ID on test day. Acceptable IDs include:
Valid driver’s license, nondriver ID card, or driver’s permit (must have a photo).
Official school-produced student ID card from the school the student currently attends.
Government-issued passport or U.S. Global Entry ID card.
Government-issued military or national ID card.
Test takers should arrive at the B building at Wayland High School by 8:00 AM. The goal is to have everyone checked in and in their assigned rooms by 8:30 AM.
The PSAT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete (without accommodations) and generally ends around 10:45/11 AM. The 50% extended time administration of the test takes longer - students with this accommodation should expect to finish the test around noon.
There are only a few things you really need to bring on test day, and a lot of things you'll be better off leaving at home. Be sure to bring:
Your fully charged device. You must have the Bluebook app installed and exam setup complete before test day if you're testing with a personal device.
A power cord and/or a portable charger. We cannot guarantee you’ll have access to an outlet during testing. Your device should be able to hold a charge for 3–4 hours.
A pencil or pen.
Scratch paper will be provided—do not bring your own.
An approved calculator. There’s a graphing calculator built into the app, but you can bring your own if you like.
An external mouse if you use one.
An approved photo ID if you’re homeschooled or if you’ll be testing at a school that is different from the one you usually attend.
College Board suggests that cell phones and other electronic devices not be brought to the test center
While Wayland recognizes that this is unrealistic in most cases, please be very clear about College Board's cell phone policy: if a phone is powered on (not even used) for any reason during testing, scores are automatically canceled.
Specific locations will be designated by signs posted just inside the main entrance to the south / left building
Generally, testing will take place in the English wing
Generally, SSD Tests (students with approved accommodations) will be tested on the first floor in the Math wing
