PSATs
Arrival and Departure
Test takers should arrive at the B building at Wayland High School by 8:00 AM. The goal is to have everyone checked in and in their assigned rooms by 8:30 AM.
The PSAT/NMSQT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete (without accommodations) and generally ends around 11 AM. The 50% extended time administration of the test takes longer - students with this accommodation should expect to finish the test around noon.
What to bring with you:
There are only a few things you really need to bring on test day, and a lot of things you'll be better off leaving at home. Be sure to bring:
Your fully charged laptop.
Please double-check your computer to ensure the Bluebook app has been installed before test day.
Before test day, we recommend that you create a collegeboard account and access the practice tests in the app so you can familiarize yourself with the new test interface. You will need this collegeboard account to access the PSAT/NMSQT on test day.
A power cord and/or a portable charger. We cannot guarantee you’ll have access to an outlet during testing. Your device should be able to hold a charge for 3–4 hours.
A pencil or pen.
Scratch paper will be provided—do not bring your own.
An approved calculator. There’s a graphing calculator built into the app, but you can bring your own if you like.
An external mouse if you use one.
An external keyboard if you use one (you can only use external keyboards with tablets—not laptops.)
An approved photo ID if you’re homeschooled or if you’ll be testing at a school that is different from the one you usually attend.
College Board suggests that cell phones and other electronic devices not be brought to the test center
While Wayland recognizes that this is unrealistic in most cases, please be very clear about College Board's cell phone policy: if a phone is powered on (not even used) for any reason during testing, scores are automatically canceled.
Testing Room Locations Within Wayland High School
Students will be notified what room they are testing in after checking in.
Generally, testing will take place in the English wing.
