Happy Hollow K-5 music

Dear Happy Hollow Families,

Wayland’s elementary schools offer a comprehensive general music program with a curriculum designed to provide a solid foundation in the elements and principles of music and hands-on performing experience. With regular weekly classes, students are engaged in activities such as listening and responding to music, movement and dance, vocal and instrumental performance, and creating original music. Lessons are designed to foster development of skills in areas such as beat competency, vocal production, music literacy, and performance technique. Class activities also focus on promoting cooperation through musical exchange with others and greater understanding of the historical and cultural aspects of music. Throughout the course of the K-5 General Music program each student will be exposed to a wide variety of musical genres, styles and traditions and will be encouraged to explore personal avenues of musical expression.
