The WASD believes Work and People Skills are critically important in the overall development of our students. Teachers will report on Work and People Skills separately and not as a part of academic proficiency. Expectations of these Work and People Skills are clearly and age appropriately defined by each building, shared with students and parents, and reported as a separate item on the grade report.
Definition of Work and People Skills: Work and People Skills are non-academic skills that are viewed as essential by parents, teachers, employers, and community members.
Work and People Skills Assessment: Teachers will assess each student in their class on the three Work and People Skills categories by using a shared set of consistent expectations and guidelines as shown below. Students will receive quarterly reports on their Work and People Skills progress.
Potential Uses of Work and People Skills Report: The report will be used for discussion purposes during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Students can also use the report to share with potential employers, post-secondary education admissions counselors, and with scholarship award committees.
