The sixth grade band is comprised of three separate classes that meet during the school day. These include the BRASS class, the WOODWIND class, and the PERCUSSION class. By the end of their first semester the 6th grade performers will combine and form our full 6th grade band for a debut concert. Their second concert occurs in the spring and typically features full concert band works.
The seventh grade band is made up of primarily second year players. In seventh grade, students will build upon what they've learned previously, and start to refine their musical skills. This will be seen through two band concerts that culminate in the Cedar Point performance trip. In addition to the full band performances, seventh grade students are now able to participate in OMEA Solo & Ensemble contest as well as auditioned groups such as the OMEA D1 Honors Band and the Fulton County Honors Band.
The eighth grade band is our top middle school ensemble. Students have multiple performance opportunities during their eighth grade year that will help introduce them to the exciting world of High School Band. These include the 8th Grade half-time performance with the HS band at a varsity football game, possible performances at MS pep rallies, and the Cedar Point performance trip to finish of the year. In addition to the full band performances, eighth grade students are once again encouraged to participate in OMEA Solo & Ensemble contest as well as auditioned groups such as the OMEA D1 Honors Band and the Fulton County Honors Band.
Our Philosophy
The philosophy of the Wauseon Band Program is to provide an opportunity for all interested students to express themselves through the art of music making while also attempting to instill a sense of appreciation for instrumental music performance. In addition, we hope that through their experience in the Wauseon band program, they will become lifelong learners in the art of music and develop the necessary skills for a comprehensive musical experience that can last them a lifetime.
