Cast Bios

*Jack Andersen- Prince Prospero, King- Publicity Designer

Jack Andersen is a junior at Northwest High School. Jack is also currently the Community Outreach Chair for Thespian Troupe #10623. He has extensive theatre experience, appearing onstage in Ramona Quimby at The Playhouse and as James in School of Rock at Des Moines Young Artists’ Theatre. He has also participated in all shows and thespian events in Waukee since 6th grade. In the spring of 2022, he played SpongeBob and was the Publicity Head Designer for the SpongeBob Musical, both of which earned him an Iowa High School Musical Theatre Award. Backstage at DMYAT, he has designed costumes for Boy at the Edge of Everything, worked on run crew for 13, and on sound crew for Treasure Island. At Northwest, Jack is the Web Editor for the Tenth Street Times. Jack is also on the Leadership Council for Random Acts of Kindness. He is also in Northwest Singers (Northwest's varsity choir) and Aurora, the JV show choir. Jack also enjoys baking desserts, crafting, and having fun with friends and family!

Samantha Bishop- Green Guest, Dead Statue, Privy Councillor

Samantha Bishop is a junior at Northwest High School. She started getting more involved in theatre during her sophomore year. Samantha participated in the SpongeBob Musical as a Teen Fan and she was a part of 3 other ensembles. Outside of school, Samantha enjoys reading, writing, drawing, and hanging out with friends and family!

Ava Boldt- Violet Guest, Privy Counselor

Ava Boldt is a sophomore at Northwest High School. Her first involvement in theatre was in her 8th-grade school play where she played the role of a student. After that, she explored more theatre opportunities like Des Moines Young Artist's Theatre. She was in the musical Descendants where she was casted as Audrey (sleeping beauty's daughter). Just last year she was in the play TRAP as the character Sergeant Brock. Ava is also a member of the Northwest Royal Brigade marching band. Outside of school, she enjoys art, reading, and being with friends and family!

Delaney Boldt- Blue guest, Privy Counselor, Dead Statue

Delaney Boldt is a sophomore at Northwest High School. She first got into theatre in 6th grade, but started participating in theatre more often in 8th grade. She has been in plays including Summer Shorts (DMYAT), Will and Whimsy (Prairieview), and most recently, she played Ephrain Salas in the play Trap at Prairieview. She has also participated in the musical Descendants at Des Moines Young Artists’ Theatre. Delaney also enjoys reading, art, music, and Color guard.

Avary Braunger- Black Cat, Read Death Dancer, Dead Statue

Ava Boldt is a sophomore at Northwest High School. Her first involvement in theatre was in her 8th-grade school play where she played the role of a student. After that, she explored more theatre opportunities like Des Moines Young Artist's Theatre. She was in the musical Descendants where she was casted as Audrey (sleeping beauty's daughter). Addison Busta- White Guest, Privy Counselor

Addison Busta is a sophomore at Northwest High School. She has been involved in theatre throughout her years but really found a calling to it in her Freshman year in the 8/9th play, Trap, when she played Gwendolyn Heche. Outside of school, Addison enjoys reading, drawing, and writing. She is also part of Aurora, Northwest's JV show choir.

Ben Calderon is a senior at Northwest High School. This is Ben's second year being in theatre, appearing first in the production Fools as a part of the flock, and The SpongeBob Musical in 2022, appearing as the Mob Fish as well as different backup dancers. Ben also joined crew for the first time as a part of costume and publicity crew in the Spongebob Musical. Outside of theatre and school, Ben likes to hang out with friends, learn about new and old technologies, and discover new interests!

Stephanie Chu- Hooded Figure, Reynolds, Privy Counselor

Stephanie Chu is a junior at Northwest High School. She started theatre in 6th grade, but after lockdown, she took a break from the spotlight. She also participates in marching band color guard as well as her work in a boba place. Things she likes are music, watching anime, baking/cooking, and hanging out with friends.

Ravyn Covington- "Muddy" Mother in Law, Red Death Dancer, Privy Counselor

Ravyn Covington is a sophomore at Northwest High School. She got involved in theatre in the 6th grade when she was in her middle schools production called Through The Decades. She has been in two plays. Through The Decades, where she played one of the girls in the 90's decade, and her 8th grade play called Will and Whimsy, where she played Sally. Ravyn also enjoys writing and reading.

*Andrew Derrick- Orange Guest

Andrew Derrick is a junior at Northwest High School. His first performance was in Trial of the Wicked Witch in 8th grade. He enjoys performing improv and monologues. He also really enjoys speech team and loves every moment of it. He competes in readers theatre, radio broadcasting, solo improv, and prose. He can not wait to participate in National Speech and Debate this year.

Brett Giltner- Police 2

Brett Giltner is a junior at Northwest High School. He began theatre in 7th grade, through his school, and has been active ever since. Brett has been in numerous plays and musicals, such as a student-written play called saving winter, and Mirror image. He played multiple side characters in each. When Brett has free time, he enjoys playing tennis, gaming, and biking.

Kylie Halstead- Trippetta, Red Death Dancer

Kylie Halstead is a sophomore at Northwest High School. She started acting at nine years old in the show Annie. Before moving to Iowa, she performed in tons of plays and musicals. Her favorites include Newsies, Swan Lake and A Christmas Carol. She was apart of the 8/9th play Trap at Prairieview last spring and was also involved in speech team and show choir. Kylie was also apart of The Penguin Project at the Des Moines Community Playhouse this year. Other than theatre, Kylie enjoys riding her bike and reading.

Zach Hancock- Dupin

Zach Hancock is a junior at Northwest High School. He has theatre experience through school, appearing as Mr. Bucket in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Prince Charming in The Trial of the Wicked Witch. When he’s not performing onstage in theatre or show choir, Zach enjoys watching movies, gaming, and throwing discus.

*Cody Holcomb- Poe

Cody Holcomb is a senior at Northwest High School. He has a great deal of theatre experience at Waukee and Northwest High School. He has been involved in all speech, theatre, and Thespian activities since 7th grade. From playing a prostitute in Bob: A Life in Five Acts at Waukee High School to portraying Leon Steponovich Tolchinsky in Fools and Sheldon J. Plankton in the SpongeBob Musical at Northwest High School, Cody has played it all! Cody is also this year's Thespian Troupe President for troupe #10623. Outside of theatre, Cody is a competitive rock climber at Climb Iowa where he practices three times a week for competitions. Cody also loves being a part of the Northwest Student Council as the Publicity Secretary as well as spending time with his friends and family!

*Sarah Kapustka- Roderick, David Poe Jr., Red Death Dancer- Makeup Crew

Sarah Kapustka is a senior at Northwest High School. Her first show was in School House Rock when she was in seventh grade. Ever since then she has been in multiple theatrical events such as; BOB: a Life in Five Acts as PillowCase Person (2020); Shrek the Musical as Cow and The Moon, Prisoner Person, and Wedding Attendee (2021); and most recently Spongebob the Musical as Another Fish and Pirate (2022). Outside of Theatre, Sarah enjoys writing, drawing, reading, and sometimes she bakes!

*Chelsea Koech- Fanny Allen, Wife, Purple Guest, Red Death Dancer- Makeup Crew

Chelsea Koech is a senior at Northwest High School. She is deeply involved in theatre arts. She began her theatre career as a freshman and has just stuck with it since. Chelsea’s first play was Bob: A Life in Five Acts where she played Chorus Three. Her love for theatre grew as she played Lenya in Fools her junior year. Chelsea auditioned for her first musical her junior year, where she played Mrs. Puff in The SpongeBob Musical. She’s also participated in IHSSA and has gone to All-State for both Large Group and Individual. Outside of theatre and school, Chelsea enjoys spending her free time with her friends and family.

Melanie Marks- Mm. L'espanaye, Eliza, Madeline

Melanie Marks is a sophomore at Northwest High School. She doesn't have a whole lot of experience in the theatre arts, only appearing as a small roll in the 6th grade play, but has participated in theatrical ballets such as Dracula and Nutcracker for years. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, writing, and painting, as well as dancing at her studio, Westside Dance Academy.

*Paige Olson- Jester, Rosalie- Education Outreach Crew

Paige Olson is a junior at Northwest High School. She has been involved in plenty of shows inside the Waukee School District including Comic Book Heroes, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Will and Whimsy, and The Spongebob Musical. Paige has also been involved in shows outside of the school district and loves to volunteer at the Des Moines Playhouse! Outside of theatre, Paige is in EOS show choir, and Northwest Singers.

*Kobe Patterson- Friend, Real Montressor

Kobe Patterson is a senior at Northwest High School. He has been in theatre ever since his late sophomore year, playing the Captain of the Guard in Waukee High's 2021 production of Shrek: The Musical. Following the transition into Northwest High School, he took on the roles of Cow and Wolf in Neil Simon's Fools and as a Security Guard in The Spongebob Musical in its 2022 season. The latter of which, he also helped in scenic design as a part of the backstage crew. Creative and fun loving, Kobe's adores hanging out with friends the most. Outside of theatre, however, he enjoys any medium he can express his passions, such as art and writing.

Carly Rau- Raven

Carly Rau is a junior at Northwest High School. She started acting in the 6th grade play and has loved acting ever since. She was recently in Will and Whimsy (Laura & Karen), and The Spongebob Musical. She is a part of the Northwest Royal Brigade Color Guard, The Waukee Combined Winter Guard, and is on the JV Show Choir, Aurora. Carly also enjoys reading, watching movies, baking, and sleeping.

*Lily Severson- The Minister, Red Death Dancer

Lily Severson a junior at Northwest High School. She is also an inducted thespian. She has participated in several Waukee Productions including the Comic Book Artist (Blossom), Will and Whimsy (Mindy/Janine), SpongeBob Musical, and more! She also participates on the Speech Team (IHSSA) and Speech and Debate team (NSDA). Outside of school, Lily loves to spend time with her family and dog, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors. Lily wants to thank her family for always being there to run lines with her. Specifically brother, Ben, for always being there to laugh at her jokes and for keeping life interesting.

Payton Strobel is a senior at Northwest High School. Payton has had extensive involvement in theatre arts in the Waukee Community School District. Payton has been involved in theatre since seventh grade and has been competing in large group and individual speech team since ninth grade. Outside of theatre, Payton is the Editor-in-Chief of Northwest High School's Tenth Street Times. Payton is also a peer mentor for the Youth Leadership Initiative. She loves to spend time with her friends, family, and at the lake as well!

Andrew Young is a sophomore at Northwest High School. He started theatre in 6th grade and has done it whenever he could from then on. He has also done a few activities at the Des Moines Playhouse. Andrew plays baseball and enjoys gaming in his free time as well.

Angelia Borski is a senior at Northwest High School. She has been participating in theatre since she was little and has participated in multiple plays and musicals since then. Angelia has been in Shrek the musical and The SpongeBob Musical. She also participated in run crew for Friday Night Live her sophomore year, and costume crew for The Spongebob Musical her junior year. Lizzie Bukstein is a sophomore at Northwest High School. Lizzie has made the props for the Lion King in 7th grade, which was sadly cancelled because of COVID-19. Last year, they were also on sets and prop crew for trap. Outside of theatre, they also do Swim Team.

Ava Carlson- Costume Crew, Front of House Crew

Ava Carlson is a junior dual enrolled at Northwest High School and a Texas-based online school. She previously only participated onstage, but worked with costume construction during the SpongeBob Musical in 2022 and fell in love with costume crew. While she plans to return to acting for the spring musical, she doesn't plan on leaving costume crew either. Outside of theatre, Ava loves art, fencing, and trying to find as many vintage clothing items as she can at goodwill.

Halle Christensen- Spotlight Operator, Set/Props Crew

Halle Christensen is a junior at Northwest High School. Her first experience with crew was for The SpongeBob Musical. She loves to paint, do crafts, and build things. Last year she helped make different props and was a spotlight operator for The SpongeBob Musical. Outside of school, she loves to hang out with her friends, family, and dogs.

Jonahs is a junior at Northwest High School. He began to become involved with crew in 7th grade by originally starting with prop creation. He eventually moved over to lighting the next couple years and it has become his passion in theatre. Ever since being in high school, he comes in any day he can to help work on crew tasks. He also won an Iowa High School Musical Theatre Award for his lighting design in The SpongeBob Musical in 2022. Aside from theatre, Jonahs is involved in the Royal Brigade marching band and enjoys playing video games.

Alyssa Farrell- Set/Props Crew

Alyssa Farrell is a Junior at Northwest and this is her first year of being involved in theatre. She also does photography for the thespian events. Alyssa has been a member of the tennis team since freshman year. Outside of school she enjoys watching movies, playing guitar and going to concerts. Alyssa currently works as a local live music photographer.

Grace Fisher is junior at Northwest High School. She did theatre camps when she was younger, but became involved in school theater during The Spongebob Musical. She was on set crew and run crew. Other than of the mainstage shows, Grace participates speech.

Docken Haas is a junior at Northwest High School. Docken started doing sound during 7th grade for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory Jr., which he really enjoyed. After that, he continued to do every play and musical. The last show he worked on was The SpongeBob Musical as the live foley artist. He also worked on the sound in Fools as he mentored another student. Docken participates in wrestling and student council.

Luca Jenkin is a sophomore at Northwest. He has been into theatre since 6th grade, but has only recently started being on the crew side of things. Luca has acted in Alice in Wonderland, Boy at the Edge of Everything, and Will and Whimsy. He has been stage manager for Trap, and now Poe: Dreams of Madness. Outside of theatre, he participates in show choir and speech. He also enjoys drawing, crafting, and watching unnecessarily long video essays of random topics.

*Avery Jones- Prop Crew Head

Avery Jones is a junior at Northwest High School. They have participated in the set/props crew for almost every main stage theatre production at school since 6th grade. They were also props head for The SpongeBob Musical in 2022. Outside of theatre, Avery is a part of the Northwest Royal Brigade marching band and they also enjoy drawing, reading and spending time with their cat.

Parker has been in two plays, Bob: A Life in Five Acts (Wayne) and Fools (burglar). Parker was in The SpongeBob Musical (Electric Skate) in 2022 and Shrek the Musical (little pig) in 2021. Parker is also on the thespian board, serving as the front of house manager. He is also avid in speech team. Outside of theatre and school, Parker enjoys his two dogs, Ruben and Cooper, and spending time with his friends.

Sam Schuster is a senior at Northwest High School. She got involved in theatre her junior year as a spotlight operator for Fools. Since then, she has had a range of roles, including Stage Management for One Act's Tell Tale Heart, Head of Set Design and Construction for The Sponge Bob Musical. She is the Technical Liaison on the Thespian Board. Outside of Theatre, Sam plays school volleyball and enjoys drawing and painting in her own time.
