If you are having issues logging into Edgenuity, please go to the "wloo.org bookmarks" in the upper left corner of the browser window. Select "Edgenuity Courseware". If that does not solve the problem, please click here.
When students first log in, there will be an orientation video that will explain how to use the Edgenuity system. It is mandatory to watch all the way through the first time.
Dashboard/Landing Page: This is the first page students will encounter when logging in to their Edgenuity account.
Hello, [Student Name]: Clicking here will provide you with three options: Profile, Help Center, and Logout.
Profile: This will provide you with your account information and access to your attendance report. You are not able to modify your account information. Please check your attendance report often to ensure you are meeting your required hours each day/week. Notice that you can see the overall time for the week as well as for each day. You are also able to see what work you did while you were logged in.
Note: Idle time is time that a student is not working on new material. If it is for only a few minutes, it is reasonable to believe the student was reading or taking notes; however, if it is for the duration of a student’s logged time, then it is reasonable to believe the student did not actively work on any of their courses.
Help Center: This will take you to student help resources from Edgenuity, so if you need help figuring out how to use Edgenuity or need to review the orientation video(s), this is the place to go.
Logout: This will log you out of Edgenuity.
Announcements: Communication through announcements can be from Edgenuity, the school district, building administration, teachers, etc. Please read through the announcements and reach out to our team if you have any questions.
Email Messaging: This communication tool is similar to using your school email. When you have new messages, a number will appear on the envelope icon.
Course(s): Each course is represented by a box on the landing page. Notice the progress bar in the middle of each box. The vertical black line indicates where you should be within the course based on the assigned target completion date. The color of the bar will indicate if you are behind, on target, or ahead. Please note any course that has been rolled over from the previous grading period is considered behind regardless of the start and/or target completion dates and color of the progression bar.
Course Map: Clicking anywhere in the box except Next Activity will take you to the interactive course map. It outlines the entire course and provides a due date for each activity to be completed in order for the course to be completed by the assigned target date. If you prefer to have a copy of the course map, click on the Course Report in the upper right corner, a .PDF will download that is able to be printed.
🔺: This indicates an assignment that is overdue. A pop-up will appear at the top of the course map indicating the number of overdue activities.
eNotes: Students who chose to use the eNotes system will input their notes while they are working through the various components of lessons. The notes are accessible here once they have been saved. Notes must be saved frequently to avoid losing the work.
Progress Dashboard: This is a report that details student progress and achievement in a particular course.
Current Progress: This indicates the percentage of the course the student has completed.
Target Progress: This indicates the percentage of the course the student should have completed based on the assigned target completion date.
Overall Grade: This is the weighted average for completed activities based on the grade weights for each type of activity.
Actual Grade: This is the overall grade for progress if a student is behind. This score doesn’t assume zeros for uncompleted work; simply penalizes for falling behind.
Relative Grade: This is the grade that a student would receive if they stopped working and received 0% for all unscored, counted activities.
Grades by Category: Grading categories display the weights of each activity type that make up a student’s grade. Activities and weights will vary based on the course.
Guided Notes: Many lessons have guided notes to assist with note-taking. On the course map, each lesson title is highlighted in a blue strip. If there is an icon that appears to be a piece of paper being written on by a pencil, that is linked to the guided note for the lesson. Some students prefer to print these out; others prefer to use it as a template for their own handwritten notes; and others add plug-ins to be able to type write onto the document. Any of these options are acceptable. On the opposite side of the blue lesson title, there is a white plus-sign. When clicked, the lesson will expand to show the lesson objectives, standards the lesson meets, and the transcript. Students benefit from using the transcript to assist with completing the guided notes.
Course Navigation: Along the right hand side of the course map is a navigation bar that is interactive and assists students in quickly navigating to different areas of the course.
Next Activity: This will take you to the next activity needing completion in a given course.
Orange Plus Sign: As you work through the various components of each lesson, an orange plus sign is located towards the upper right corner of the screen. Once expanded, you will see three tabs: eNotes, Glossary, and Transcript. eNotes is built into the Edgenuity. You are welcome to keep your notes here, but make sure you save often or your work will be lost. The Glossary tab will provide the lesson word list along with the definitions for each word. Press the orange play button in front of the word to hear it pronounced correctly. The transcript will provide you with the exactly what is being said in the videos. You may also hover over the video to be able to turn on closed captioning.
Highlighter: If you see important information you would like to easily be able to find again, you may want to highlight it on the screen. Simply click and drag to highlight the part you want to highlight, hover over the highlighter tool, and select the color you like best.
Headphones: There may be times when you struggle to follow a text as you read it yourself, so you have the option to highlight the word(s) you would like to have read aloud. Once you have done so, move your mouse to the headphone. A menu will expand to show a stop button, play button, and drop down menu for the reader’s speed. Once you press play, Edgenuity will highlight the word(s) while you follow along.
Once students enroll in our program, staff will set up students’ accounts to include the email address for their parents/guardians. An email will be sent to notify the parent/guardian that the account has been created. Additionally, staff will enable the parent portal, which updates in real time. Each Monday morning, a progress report will be sent to the parents/guardians via email; however, parents/guardians are able to check students’ progress through the parent portal at any time.
To set up the parent portal, please reach out to your student’s advisor for the four-digit activation code. Click the link in the email notification to start the registration process. DO NOT fill out the email and password boxes. Click ACTIVATE ACCOUNT. On the next screen, enter the same email address that the notification was sent to, put in the four-digit activation code, and select continue. Finally follow the steps to create a password and security questions. Once the registration is complete, log in using the email address and password anytime by visiting https://learn.edgenuity.com/family/.
