Orchestra begins in 5th grade in Watauga County Schools! We start with the basics of the instrument from the parts to the posture, how to hold and maintain an instrument, and how to make our first sounds. We also focus on musical listening while we play our first songs as well as the beginnings of music literacy and transferring shapes on a page into actions to make music.
Check out the Beginning Orchestra page for your school for more information about how the instruments sound. If you are continuing in orchestra, check out the information below to learn more about your specific instrument.
