Welcome to Middle School Health Education! We are looking forward to working with all of you this year!

Course Descriptions:

Grade 6: The 6th Grade Health cycle discusses the following topics: Human Body Systems (Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive, Circulatory, Respiratory, and Nervous; Healthy Triangle (Physical, Social, and Mental Wellness); Communication (Skills and Strategies for Effectiveness); Self-Esteem (Understanding and Managing Relationships); Stress (Recognizing and Managing Stress-Related Issues); and Nutrition as it relates to caring for the Human Body Systems.

Grade 7: The 7th Grade Health cycle discusses the following topics: Pubertal/Adolescent Changes; Endocrine System (Anatomy & Physiology); Female Reproductive System (Anatomy & Physiology); Male Reproductive System (Anatomy & Physiology); Pregnancy/Childbirth (Mother/Fetus Development and Female Body Changes); and Tobacco, Vaping/Electronic Cigarettes, Marijuana; Inhalants (Short & Long Term Side Effects/Social, Emotional, and Physical Consequences).

Grade 8: The 8th Grade Health cycle discusses the following topics: Abstinence/Healthy Relationships/Teen Dating Violence (Strategies and Skills to Maintain Healthy Relationships); Pregnancy Prevention (Different Forms of Birth Control); Sexually Transmitted Diseases (Signs, Symptoms and Treatment), Alcohol/Illegal Drugs (Short & Long Term Side Effects/Social, Emotional, and Physical Consequences).

Health Class General Rules, Guidelines, and Expectations

· Student should be prepared and ready to learn when logging onto google classroom.

· Students should be on time to class. Students will be provided two excused tardies. The third and subsequent tardy will result in lunch reflection.

· Students should maintain appropriate vocabulary during specified topics and are expected to demonstrate respect and acceptance in all instances.

· Students may not plagiarize or copy work of another student.

· Students are encourage to be engaged in each class
