I believe all students have the right to a successful education. I am an eclectic educator who uses diverse teaching methods to reach the various learning styles of my students. I believe students should be provided with a safe, fun, and educational learning environment. Education which comes in all shapes and sizes is the key to success.
Beacon Academy opens doors for students that may not have been ‘opened’ in a brick and mortar school. My number one priority as an online teacher at Beacon Academy is to ensure my students feel welcomed, comfortable and safe. As an online teacher at Beacon Academy, it will be my privilege and responsibility to ensure any student entrusted to me experiences meaningful learning which will enrich their lives by moving them toward reaching their personal and educational goals.
I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky and I have lived in Bowling Green for the last 33 years. I married my high school boyfriend and we have two daughters (Caitlyn and Sayrah) who both graduated from Warren Central and Western Kentucky University. I have two grandchildren, Hadley Stella and George Hunter. I also have 4 fur babies at home (Bentley, Topper, Kitty and Remington).
I attended Western Kentucky University and received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Economics. After graduating from Western, I held a management position for 7 years before returning to WKU to earn my teacher certification in Secondary Business Education. I also have a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Western Kentucky University. I worked at Warren Central High School for 22 years in the Business Department before transitioning to Beacon Academy.
I am very excited to be starting my 1st year at Beacon Academy and my 6th year overall with the Warren County School District.
I believe my diverse background helps prepare me to better serve the students that have chosen to take the non-traditional, in-person route to obtain a high school diploma. Prior to becoming a teacher, some other positions I've held are: 13 years at the Kentucky State Police Driver Testing branch, 8 years as a door to door salesman, 11 years teaching a driver safety course to high school students, 1 year as a Police Officer, 1 year as a high school College and Career advisor, 5 years in industry, and 2 years in restaurant management.
I have been married to my gorgeous wife Becky for 25 years. We have 3 children, 1 grandson, & 2 granddaughters. :) I love being a Pop Pop. I also can't forget Diesel and Dixi, my 2 spoiled dogs.

I am excited every day to come to a job working with students in alternative learning options! Students are not the same and do not learn the same way. This is why I am excited to be part of a district and team that understands and is responsive to those needs.
Like the students I teach, I came to teaching in an alternative format later in life having a diverse career path and many learning opportunities. I feel this helps me in working with students from different backgrounds or having specific needs.
I appreciate the opportunity to work with each of your students.
