When creating slides to display on the video board, the following guidelines may be helpful and prevent potential issues:
We suggest using a program such as Canva to create slides that can easily be manipulated and exported in the exact dimensions necessary for displaying on the video board. Canva is free, but some resources, images, and elements require a Canva Pro subscription. If you do not want to pay, Google Slides would be a great alternative.
Logos that are getting placed on the slides should meet the following standards:
Be an electronic, computer generated image
This does not include scanned business cards, Word files, or Google Docs. These turn out blurry and can not be sharpened up.
A high resolution .PNG file is perfect
A .JPG or .JPEG file is acceptable, but quality may be impacted
In landscape (side to side) orientation if at all possible
Logos in portrait orientation (up and down) do not fit on the screen and will be grouped with other logos to maximize available screen space
Once your slides are created and ready to go, you'll need to export them as .PNG images to import into vMix. If using Canva, do this by clicking on the Share button, confirming PNG is the selected format, and then clicking the Download button.
In Google Slides, choose File --> Download --> PNG Image (current slide). You will need to do this for each slide, individually.
Our boards are set up for 1920 X 1080 (16:9 aspect ratio) which is the standard defaults in both Canva and Google Slides.
*The soccer/lacrosse board is set up for 1080 X 1080 (a perfect square)
If you have a video or any high quality graphics, note that the boards only run in 720p - they are not capable of true 1080 or 4k.
Save all final slides to a flash drive, or prepare to log in to your email or cloud service on the video board laptop.
Not all facilities have WiFi. A personal hotspot connection may be necessary.
