With over half of all students competing in at least one interscholastic sport, the athletic department at Westminster is expanding and thriving. Our first and foremost priority is enlisting the finest instructors. In securing coaches, we actively seek men and women who love God, love students, excel at coaching, and are knowledgeable in their sport. Additionally, they must understand the role that sports play in molding godly character through discipline, teamwork, and fair play. Our entire athletic department takes the time to invest in each and every athlete with a focus on character building, sportsmanship, and discipleship.
Westminster Academy competes in the Shelby 78, the TSSAA, and the PAA leagues.
Purple & Gold
Purple and gold are Westminster’s school colors. Purple is traditionally the color of royalty and represents that we, as redeemed sons/daughters of the King, have been graced with royal position only beneath the robes of Christ's righteousness. Gold represents the final result of God’s sanctifying work in us, as His redeemed children are ultimately made pure in Christ.
The school mascot at Westminster Academy is the Defender. By God’s grace alone, both in the classroom and on the courts/fields, we strive to equip young followers of Christ to defend their faith in God. Scripture teaches us that we live within the context of a real spiritual battle and are fighting an unseen enemy. It also presents multiple "tools" to be used for our defense in this battle, so we are “defenders” of the faith.
