First organized in 1985, the Mock Trial Program's tournament places high school students in a simulated courtroom to assume the roles of lawyers and witnesses in a hypothetical case. Thousands of students at more than 130 schools across the commonwealth are participating. More than 100 lawyers across the state will serve as volunteer coaches and judges.
The Walpole High School Mock Trial Team Adviser is Social Studies Teacher Phil Balkus. Attorney Julie Corcoran volunteers as Coach. If you have any questions related to the WHS Mock Trial Team, you can contact Mr. Balkus at pbalkus@walpole.k12.ma.us.
Seniors Abigail M., Jack M., Aayush M., Nick N., Xander N., Miles A., and Jenny A. led the WHS Mock Trial Team to its most successful season ever in 2020! The team won all three of its preliminary round trials against Sharon, Canton, and Westwood to move on to the playoff round of 32 teams at Clark University in Worcester. We gained valuable playoff experience, and we will look to follow up this year’s success with another great season in 2021.
