The Mission of Walker County Schools CTAE is to be the bridge between education and the 21st Century Workforce.
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's) are student organizations that intracurricular and/or co-curricular to a specific pathway. For example, FFA is a part of the Agriculture Pathway at both high school and all middle schools within the Walker County School District.
FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs. FBLA is provided at Lafayette High School, Ridgeland High School. and Saddle Ridge Elementary Middle School. The advisor at Lafayette is Mrs. Lori McWhorter. FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA's mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader. Members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation. FCCLA is provided at Ridgeland High School. The advisor at Ridgeland High School is Mrs. Beth Pilkington.
The official name of FFA is the National FFA Organization. FFA is no longer recognized as Future Farmers of America. However, Future Farmer of America will always be a part of their heritage and legacy. FFA's Mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA is provided at Lafayette High School and Ridgeland High School. The advisors at Lafayette High School are Mr. Michael Gardner and Mrs. Samantha Wilhoite. The advisors at Ridgeland High School are Mr. Pete Davis and Mrs. Kaita Parrish. FFA is also provided at all 4 middle schools in Walker County. HOSA's Mission is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community. TSA stands for Technology Student Association. TSA enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), whereby members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs. TSA's motto is, "Learning to Lead in a Technical World." TSA is provided at Ridgeland High School. The advisors are Mrs. Lisa Forrester and Mr. Tuck Watts. TSA is also provided at Chattanooga Valley Middle School. At CVMS the TSA is sponsored by Mr. Steve Wells.
