Animals are born with the instinct to breathe air, drink and eat food. Plants have the instinct to move toward sunlight.

changes by an organism in response to their environment. After an animal or plant is born, it responds to the environment and makes changes in behavior that help it survive.
A young tiger has an instinct to eat meat, but it does not know how to hunt from birth. Animal parents, such as lions, tigers, and wolves, have to teach their young how to hunt.
